TRAY INSTALLATION
Threshold Type

Threshold Tray Installation Steps

Threshold tray can be installed onto timber or concrete floor or rebated concrete floor for level-entry shower.

Note: It is advisable to install tray prior to installation of wallboard.

Step 1. For best finish, ensure shower walls are square and straight. Temporarily, place tray into position ensuring tray side upstands are flush with, or slightly set back from wallboard face when wallboard is subsequently fixed to framing. Mark position of easy-clean trap placement - should be 85mm max. centre from each bottom plate - see drawing above.

Step 2. Install row of 100 x 50 nogs on-edge to bottom-plate around all wall sides of tray for fixing of bottom edge of wallboard.

Step 3. Easy-clean trap - Installed to outlet pipe by plumber -see instructions below. Trap may be installed after tray installation if underneath access is possible.

Step 4. Level floor - With a notched trowel apply polymer-modified thinset tile adhesive to floor. Un-level floor - make level with levelling compound or thinset tile adhesive. Apply tile adhesive to tray underside to ensure total, even contact with floor. Place tray into position. Ensure tray side/ rear upstands are flush with, or slightly back from wallboard face - never proud. Finished position of tray is dependent on squareness and straightness of walls.

Step 5. Chrome waste connection - Apply neutral-cure silicone sealant around tray drain hole. Screw waste into trap immediately upon tray placement to ensure correct positioning and fitting of tray and trap. Underfloor access: connect waste and trap as subsequently desired.

Step 6. Wallboard installation - Wallboard is to finish minimum 2.0mm above top edge of tray upstand, i.e. approx. 120mm from floor depending on finish height of levelled floor -- see drawing below.

Trap Installation
If wall corner is square and walls are straight, set easy-clean trap at 85mm max. from both bottom plates. If walls are not square, move tray into position where upstands are flush with wallboard face and position trap accordingly.

Note:
Ensure trap is installed 20mm above floor height at same angle/ plane as 'fall' of tray. Optional plumbing kit containing flexible pipe and connections is recommended to facilitate the trap installation. The flexibility allows the the trap rubber gasket to tighten fully to underside of tray whilst the threaded chrome waste tightens down onto the tray.

Level-entry Tray Installation Steps

Note: It is advisable to install tray prior to installation of wallboard.

Step 1. Remove 20mm flooring and approx. 40mm joist depth. Make platform by adding extra joist blocking and 18mm plywood between joists.

Step 7. Tile underlay installation - Install 6.0mm underlay to bathroom floor with 2.0mm min. gap to tray. Apply waterproof membrane to tray/ underlay joint -- (not included in kit).
